AUSOOM is rarely used for personal news but I have decided to break the rules and tell you about Dormie House and Moss Vale Golf Club.
Last weekend I had a golfing trip with my two younger sons. This year we decided on the Moss Vale area and arranged accommodation at Dormie House because it had been recommended by several golfing friends and especially because it was located right on the course.
Staying at Dormie House was perfect as it is literally a few metres from the clubhouse and the first tee. Built in the 1930’s Dormie House is older style accommodation but it is very comfortable and had everything we needed. For a golfing weekend it is hard to imagine a better place to stay.
Dinner on Friday night with Paul and Louise Maslen was another highlight that was topped off by a winning ticket in the $200 Moss Vale Golf Club Jackpot Raffle.
We played Mt Broughton Golf Club on Friday and then spent Friday and Saturday night at Dormie House. Mt Broughton was the usual difficult challenge and the boys lost plenty of balls.
We then played in the Moss Vale Golf Club’s regular weekend competition. I had never played the Moss Vale course before and what a hidden gem this delightful country course is. Loved every hole and definitely look forward to a major senior event being held there soon. If it is then I am sure there will be a rush to book accommodation at Dormie House.
From the Dormie House Website:
“Nestled in the beautiful green hills of the Southern Highlands, The Dormie House is an elegant guest house situated right on Moss Vale Golf Course. Established in the early 1930′s, The Dormie House retains its period charm while providing all the modern amenities of a quality golf resort.
The Dormie House’s intimate atmosphere and personal service makes it a perfect retreat for couples and small groups. Whether you are planning a casual business conference or a golfing weekend with friends, Dormie House provides a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Just 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, 2 hours drive from Canberra and 1 hour drive from the coast Dormie House is well worth the trip.”
