Round 3 Report:
Day four of the 2015 NT Senior Amateur produced brilliant sunny skies and a cool yet consistent breeze.
Barry Tippett (pictured left) played in the morning draw and had a reasonable score going until a a lost ball on the eighth hole (his second last) gave him a triple bogey that saw him post a 77 and a total four round clubhouse leading score of 314. Tippett had rounds of 84-76-77-77=314.
Tom Harold (centre) held an overnight one stroke lead over Steve Toyne (right) and they were paired together for the final round with an afternoon time slot. Both players got off to a sluggish start with Harold posting a score of 42 (6 over par) on the outward nine and Toyne one more.
Harold then lifted his game and played brilliantly over the more challenging front nine to record a one over par 37 and a total score of 79. Harold had rounds of 81-73-80-79=313 for his one shot win over Tippett.
Toyne played well in the final nine to finish his day with a round of 82 and an aggregate score of 317 (82-78-75-82) that gave him third place.
This makes it five second place finishes and a win for Tippett from his last seven starts. He is certainly the form senior golfer in Australia at the present time.
NSW senior Darryl Hearsch finished in fourth position (78-82-84-82=326). Harold, Tippett and Toyne have been selected in the Australian team to challenge New Zealand for the Sanctuary Cove Trophy in July this year.
313 Tom Harold (NT) 81-73-80-79
314 Barry Tippett (VIC) 84-76-77-77

Round 2 Report:
Darwin golfer Tom Harold has posted a great second round 73 to follow his opening 81 and he has opened up a six stroke lead with a 36-hole total of 154.
Overnight leader Daryl Hearsch shot 82 today and is level with Steve Toyne and Barry Tippett on a two round total of 160.
The second day started with pretty low temperatures. At 7.26am it was a sultry 2.8 degrees. The views over the sweeping MacDonnell Ranges are awe inspiring and provide the perfect backdrop to a challenging and beautifully designed Thomson/Wolveridge layout.
The photos highlight both the cool weather and the latest in golfing attire for Alice Springs newcomers Steve Toyne and Barry Tippett.

Round 1 Report
Strong cold and blustery 35km south easterly winds and a top temperature of 17 degrees made scoring exceptionally difficult at Alice Springs Golf Club for the majority of players today.( wind chill of 10 degrees with Qld players opting for 5 layers of clothing).
The testing Thomson/Wolveridge layout that punishes golfers who put their ball in the wrong position was certainly a factor today. In fact there was only 10 players across the entire field that scored 75 and below. The field boasted a talent pool of 19 plus handicap players who obviously found the going tough.
Daryl Hearsch (NSW) returned the best senior score of the day with a score of 78 which easily could have been better but for a few shots leaked over the closing holes. He struck the ball beautifully with 14 greens hit in regulation. A great round.
78 Darryl Hearsch (NSW)
82 Steve Toyne (QLD)
83 Lindsay Heaver (NT)
83 Tom Harold (NT)
84 Barry Tippett (VIC)
86 Ian Low (NT)
86 Trevor Osborne (NT)
