Round 3 Report:
Coomealla and Victorian golfer Greg Rhodes has completed a dominant performance in winning the 2015 NSW Senior Amateur Championship by eight strokes. Rhodes (pictured right) had the impressive record of leading all the way by posting the best score every day - a rare feat in a major championship. With rounds of 68-64-70=202 his six under par total is believed to be a record. Senior golf has welcomed another golfing star and looks forward to him continuing with more wins in upcoming tournaments.
In second place was local Duntry League member Robert Payne (below right) who played consistently well for rounds of 71-69-72=210 but the magic putter was not in his bag this week. Payne did mount an early challenge with two birdies cutting the lead to three at the turn. However it was Rhodes who maintained his composure to finish the round with an even-par 70 and claim the J.R.Higson Trophy by eight strokes.
Third place was shared by strong NSW senior Mark Pearson (70-72-73=215) and newcomer Warren Gorton (68-72-75=215). Both are new to senior golf and are sure to figure in the finish of the events they play in coming months.
NSW senior and regular competitor for many years Robert Lewis completed a very good week with a win in the 54-hole Handicap Championship. From his handicap of 8 Lewis had rounds of 66-69-72=207 to defeat fellow NSW senior and 7-marker Steve Musgrave (65-70-72=207) on a countback.
The teams from Duntryleague Golf Club and Orange Ex Services Country Golf Club did a fantastic job co-hosting the event and special thanks goes to all the volunteers who assisted throughout the event.

Round 2 Report:
Victorian golfer Greg Rhodes has established a commanding lead with 18 holes to go in the 2015 NSW Senior Amateur Championship. Rhodes (pictured right) opened with a two under par round 68 at Duntry League and then followed with a wonderful round of 66 (four under par) at the RSL Ex-Services course. With a six stroke lead he looks the winner but golf often presents some unexpected results.
In second place is local Duntry League member Robert Payne (below left) who will be looking to produce one of the sensational rounds he often has on his home course. The Plus 3 marker will need an outstanding round to catch Rhodes but he does have a lot of them including a 10 under par 60 as recently as the Saturday before the championship started.
Joint round one leader Warren Gorton recorded a second round of 72 and his 36-hole total of 140 puts him in third place. The newcomer to senior golf had performed well in his first major event and will be a name to follow in upcoming tournaments.
Liverpool senior Gary Batman charged into contention with a second round of 66 and he is joined by Stefan Albinski who also had a second round score of two under par 66. The pair are nine behind the leader and would appear to be too far away with just the one round at Duntry League remaining.
The Ex-Services course was presented in good condition with preferred lies on the fairways making sure all players had a just reward for accurate tee shots. The greens were a good and consistent pace and held approach shots very well. Overall, congratulations to the members and volunteers from the Ex-Services club.
The championship concludes tomorrow at Duntry League Golf Club.

Round 1 Report:
Two under par rounds of 68 have given Victorian Greg Rhodes (pictured right) and Newcastle's Warren Horton the round one lead in the 2015 NSW Senior Amateur Championship. They lead NSW senior Mark Pearson who recorded an even par round of 70 with local Duntry League member Robert Payne next on 71.
Close up on two over par 72's are the very experienced Sydney visitors Roy Vandersluis and Steve Musgrave plus another local Duntry League player Wayne Carpenter. Ross Bockman is next on 73 ahead of a group of six players on 74 and nine players on 75. Musgrave leads the overall handicap competition with his net score of 65.
Two of the better rounds of the day belonged to 74 year old Jack Parker who equalled his age and Robert Lewis who showed his best form with his 74 off a handicap of 8.
Defending champion Sam Christie (pictured left) opened with a round of 77 and he will need a very good round at the RSL Ex-Services Club tomorrow to be among the leaders for the final round at Duntry League on Thursday.
The Duntry League course was in exceptional condition with all players commenting on the lush fairways and beautiful greens. Add in a lovely warm to hot day and no wind to mention it was a perfect day for golf.
